VINTAGE IN LIME + BLACK

Alexia wears: Earrings: borrowed / Sweater: vintage / Dress: vintage / Shoes: vintage here
Looking under a rock is like a prize for a girl enslaved to vintage. No sane being develops a frame of though like such!  The cold pavement numbed her limbs as she met the day. But the cold is no match for the warmth of a vintage fabrics on her finger tips. As she stumbles in the coffee shop she daydreams of her next snag. How it will feel once on her now chilled body. What pieces has she already acquired to finish the look. The barista has called her chai latte three times by now. She snaps out of her imagination to claim the hot beverage meant to warm frozen limbs. The brisk morning meets her again as she glances at the bins filled with rare dresses, old records and clip on jewelries. The crowds had thinned as the sun loss its warmth. She was one of few in the brutal cold. As she reached something the wind whipped pass her face with the force of an iceberg. The devastation she ignored while she made nice with the supplier. As she made her purchase she stared up into the sky that just months ago was filled with living creatures. By now they had flown south. Just then a snowflake plopped on her blushing cheek. She clung to her scarf for faux warmth. Her fingers were Popsicle but filled with bags of new things to be love. A warm fireplace awaited her at home.

DARK PAST

It seems as if all I wear is black these days. I think it all started from watching Gallery Girls. Being put together is not really my style, on a normal day I look like a hippie child - think Mary Kate Olsen minus a layer or two. I'd probably wear some beat up old chuck taylors if I wasn't going to work. This skirt is probably the most worn item in my wardrobe - count on it! Whenever I am in a rush or don't feel like getting dressed I throw it on with a sweater + head out the door. It's getting a bit short but I'm not giving up on it just yet. Any who, I finally wrote a list of things I want to do in 2013. They are not resolutions, just a few items to keep me on track with my professional + personal goals. It's already a whole page long + I keep adding. I'll share mine if your share yours! #1 on my list is to take yoga, kickboxing + photography classes :)

HOLEY MOLEY

Alexia wears: Hat: F21, Denim + Bag: vintage, Dress: Fancy Treehouse , Flatforms: Deena & Ozzy (similiar here + want these )

Ripped tights aren't exactly dress code at my sometwhat corporate job, but a huge hole tore thru mines while in route to work on Wednesday morning + gosh darn it was way too cold to take them off! Ok, that's not exactly the whole truth but if anyone asked that was my story + I was sticking with it. I knew the hole was there but my dress somewhat barely covered it that morning. I didn't consider that it may stretch throughout the day. I wouldn't mind such a rip on any other day but at work it's like a HUGE eye sore! I stayed at my desk more than usual + prayed that my asymmetrical cardigan covered when I got up. No one mentioned it so I'm in the clear.

My dress is from Fancy Treehouse, a BLOG + STORE by the lovely Cory Combs! Please go visit!!

FLEA MARKET SATUDAYS

Alexia wears sheInside coat (similiar here ) f21 dress / hm trousers / gifted bag + earrings

Riding into Eastern Market is becoming one of my favorite things to do w/ Cedric on Saturday afternoons. This time around we went to the capitol first + then headed over to the flea. We always stumble on something new when we go into DC. So far we’ve come across two bakeries, an organic food market + Matchbox (best pizza). The temps were so cold this weekend that we only stayed long enough to rummage through the racks of some quaint vintage boutiques that I found on the way from getting a soy chai latte from Port City Java. We were going to eat in the city but my hands + feet were on ice so we decided to head to our favorite eats @ Cheesecake Factory. It’s hilarious that I still manage to eat there after being an employee two years ago. I should be sick to death of cheese + cake but I guess I can’t get bored with 200+ items on the menu. Any who I’m looking forward to the warm front coming in this weekend, maybe I’ll hit the flea + snag some goodies for my upcoming retail biz.

WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

HelloSweet Bird here! So excited that you took a moment to stop by my cutsie blog! I'm super excited to get posting, just waiting for my new 50mm f/1.8 lens to get in. I got the idea to start a blog ten months ago and I actually did, called Alexia in the Meantime! I started it with no direction so after a few months I was no longer inspired, plus I was beat from working my full-time job at an online banking company. I was also in a rut b/c I wasn't where I thought I should be at this time in my life - I wanted  more than a 9to5 gig that didn't allow me to be my creative old quirky wierdo self. Recently I realized that God has me there for a purpose! He has a plan for my life and this job is preparing me for the next step in fulfilling my dreams! Currently I am curating a line of vintage goodies so that I can open my very first online vintage store!! Yes I still work at my 9to5 but it's only a temporary fix to get me to my dreams! I've been so afraid of failure that it kept me from even trying!! Not anymore… I'm following my dreams all the way to victory! The road to success is paved w/ failures and I'm ready to get in the MUD!!!

Just alittle about me: My name is Alexia.. I turned 24 on (yes) Chistmas Eve and I am a dreamer b/c dreams are reality if you are willing to work hard for them! I live in an amazing community in Bowie, Md. w/ my family who are completely supportive of my entrepreneurial ambitions! I graduated from college w/ a bachelors in psychology that I will probably never use….even still this is one of my proudest accomplishments. My four years in undegrad and 2 years in the workforce helped me realize that what I truly want in a career is the freedom to be an artsy fartsy creative eccentric odd balL. I will be a writer/published poet and a vintage store owner very soon.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing in this new journey with me! Happy 2013! xx
